It's all a blur.1 September, 2009 - 20:41 Ñ superdiva |
“I’m sorry, I don’t think I can do this.â€
The middle-aged man gives me back the script and leaves the quaint café/theater where I’ve scheduled auditions for my latest movie project.
I am waiting in the lobby with Mary, the volunteer from my filmmakers group to see if anyone is coming in to audition. I’ve had four auditions so far and luckily enough those auditions were very good. I put out an open casting call and received 75 responses for the script. I suspect a short film about Christ and the Devil having a gay relationship might put some people off. Four brave male actors out of 75 isn’t bad.
So I’m now doing the facebook thing, but I just can’t keep up. My sisters got me playing Mafia Wars which is addictive. I must admit it is easier to network now, and it hasn’t been that intrusive since I keep my profile closed.
The movies I keep getting a buzz about from friends is District 9 and Inglorious Basterds. I don’t know if I’ll torrent them or go to the theater. I hate films that people keep bugging me to watch because they like it so much. Buzz overkill compels me to avoid anything with Brad Pitt. There were some great recommendations for cult films I watched and liked very much, Battle Royale, for instance. Will avoid BR II, though.
Strange that Ted Kennedy and Eunice Kennedy Shriver are dead within a few weeks of each other. I think there’s one original generation Kennedy left, but I forgot who she was. Pity that the second generation didn’t have better luck beating the curse. Good think Ted passed away during Obama’s presidency.
I’m on vodka standby right now, waiting to hear from my advisor about my last chapter. Oh god, how I want to be done with this thing by January.
